The model was Natalia Mikhailovna Uzhviy, People's Artist of the USSR. The figures that surround the pedestal are half the height of the Shevchenko statue. They are perceived mainly up close. According to the sculptor’s plan, the figures need to be examined in the sequence of a compositional spiral, starting from the figure of “Katerina” and moving counterclockwise. The monument is located in the center of Kharkov - in the Garden named after T. G. Shevchenko, at the entrance to the central alley from Sumskaya Street. The monument is organically connected with the surrounding park landscape and the city architectural ensemble. The total height of the monument is over 16 meters, the height of the statue of Taras Shevchenko is 4.5 meters.
