Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikushin (1917-1997). People's Artist of the USSR (1963). Author of twenty-six monuments erected on the territory of the USSR.
He graduated from the I. Repin Institute of Civil Aviation, a student of V. Sinaisky and Alexander Matveev. In 1948-1951 and from 1958 until his death he taught at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. E. Repin, headed a personal creative workshop. Professor (1962).
A representative of the classical, traditionalist school, who worked in easel and monumental sculpture, the author of a number of famous images that became iconic for their time: A. S. Pushkin, A. P. Chekhov, G. S. Ulanova, N. K. Cherkasova, V. M. Bekhterev, V. I. Lenin, sculptural groups of the memorial complex Monument to the heroic defenders of Leningrad, etc.
