Russian artist of Austrian origin.
He studied at the Academy of Sciences with M. Klodt. He acted as a continuer of the tradition of the Russian landscape school, close to Klodt and Savrasov. In his work, he skillfully used the achievements of the wanderers, organically combining realistic features with academic principles of painting construction.
