Basic Book: Stolen Edition? Chessed LeAvraham by Rabbi Avraham Azulai - Sulzbach, 1685 Pedigreed Copy

Sefer Chessed LeAvraham by Rabbi Avraham Azulai  of Hebron. First edition - Sulzbach, 1685. 76 leaves. Kabbalistic illustrations. In the Rare Book Collection of the National Library, Stefansky, Siferi Yesod 363.

In that same year, another edition was published in Amsterdam yet it was faulty. Nevertheless, following editions were based on it possibly because this one was suspected of being a Christian edition (see Hebrew catalog text).

Worn binding. Tear affecting the text of leaf 8. Taping and stains. Considerable wear. Fair overall condition.

On the title page, an ancient Ashkenazic signature: "שמואל אונגר באסקאוויץ" (see Hebrew catalog text).

A notation of the flyleaf: "יהושע סג"ל..."? and on the last page: "אברהם צבי יכונה הירש".
