Chabad Auction – presenting the rare Tanya and Siddur Shanghai and a collection of Siddurim, Ari version – an auction for collectors of books and pedigreed copies as well.

All items of this auction that were given directly by the Rebbe were thoroughly checked by the auction house to determine who received them from the Rebbe. For most of them, we received additional evidence such as a photograph taken when the item was received and varied authenticity tests. Due to the complexity, items whose source is Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch were specifically noted.

The recipients' names were obscured in most of the items, at the request of their owners, and will be revealed to the buyers. Be advised, further questions about the items should be directed to the auction house until 24 hours before the auction. Entering a bid is binding with all that that entails. Thank you.

The auction will take place on Wednesday 04.01.2023 at 20:00.

Pocket Edition of the Tanya - Copy of the Editon that was Distributed by the Rebbe during the First Chalukah that took Place during Sefirat HaOmer 1972

Pocket edition of the Tanya which was published for the 70th birthday of the Rebbe - the 11th of Nissan 1972. Kfar Chabad, the Holy Land. Copies of this edition were distributed by the Rebbe and it was the first time Tanya books were distributed by the Rebbe (see below). The general letter that was enclosed with the copies of this edition, was not enclosed with this copy so we do not know whether it was given directly by the Rebbe and who received it. 12 cm. Original plastic binding. Small tear to the title page. Some blemishes. Good overall condition.

According to the book Mazkeret Netzach (Brooklyn, 2011), during the days of Sefirat HaOmer of 1972, the Rebbe gave every one of the children around the world who had participated in 'Matanah LaRebbe' (taking upon themselves to study, etc.) for his 70th birthday a pocket edition of the Tanya or Siddur Tehilat Hashem, with an enclosed general-private letter for each child. As stated, with this copy, a general letter was not enclosed.
