First edition of the Chumash and Siddur of the Rova”H, Torat Moshe. Redelheim 1818-1822

Chumash and Siddur “Torat Moshe”, three sections (Shmot, Vayikra, Dvarim), with Yiddish translation and the Minchah Chadasha commentary edited by Rabbi Wolf bar Shimshon Ish Heidenheim, “the Rova”h”, a unique and extremely important edition which was praised by gedolim over the generations.

Each section has the siddur for Shabbos with shacharit and mussaf, as well as yotzrot for special shabbatot. Prenomeranten leaves at the end of Dvarim.

Gedolim valued highly the Rova’h’s work given, as the title page states, it was prepared “accurately, with the goal of absolute precision and organized completely”. The Admor Baal HaTanya ordered that the printer Rabbi Yisrael Yafeh of Kapost proofread his siddur according to the nusach of the Rova’h “because he is pleasantly accurate”. Maran the Chatam Sofer stated about the Rova’h’s work: “He invested so much time in the piyyutim and translating them into Yiddish—had he not, they would have already fallen into oblivion and would not have been said already for generations.”

Shmot: [1], 137, 28, 78 leaves.
Leviticus: [1], 107, 24, 80 leaves.
Dvarim: [1], 129, 18, 52, [6] leaves.

Original bindings, missing the spine, many worming holes, fair condition.
