Photo Album - Taking over Illegal Immigrants Ship
Album with 45 photographs documenting the British Navy taking over the ship Haim Arlosoroff, approaching the shores of Palestine. The ship was part of Aliya Bet - the illegal Jewish immigration to Palestine following WWII and the holocaust. It carried over 1000 immigrants picked from ports in Italy and Sweden in winter 1947, and drowned near the shores of Haifa following a battle with the British Navy. Most of the immigrants were arrested and deported to Cyprus. The photos include rare documentation of the British soldiers taking over the ship. Attached is a large photo of the British Navy ship.
