R. Uri HaKohen Yolles/Sambor 1896. Extremely rare.
Signed letter of approbation on the sefer Ayaloh Shlucha by R. Naftoli Maryles son of R. Shimon of Yaroslov.
R. Uri HaKohen Yolles (1833-1910), was a son of R. Ephraim Tzvi Yolles a talmid of R. Uri of Strelisk (the Seraph OF Strelisk) after whom he was named. Known as an Illui from a young age, he was a talmid of R. Yosef Shaul Natansohn (Sho’el UMaishiv) where he learned together with R. Yitzchok Schmelkes (Bais Yitzchok). Shortly after his marriage, he became a close Chassid of R. Sholom of Belz (Sar Sholom) who testified said that R. Uri was zoche to “Giluy Eliyohu”. He served as Rov in Komarna. Following the passing of R. Yehuda Tzvi of Stretin (who was the successor of the Seraph MStrelisk), he was prevailed upon in 1878 to accept the leadership of some of the Stretiner Chasidim. He later moved to Sambor after which he is known. In Sambor, thousands of Chassidim flocked to him and he was one of the greatest Rebbes in Galicia and Poland. In addition to being a tremendous Talmid Chochom and Tzaddik, he was also famous for his tremendous efforts on behalf of the poor, literally giving away all he had. Some of his Divrei Torah were published in Sefer Amoros Tehoros (Lemberg 1910). Father in law of R. Gedalya of Ludmir.
