Horodenka, a city that is today in western Ukraine, but until the war was in the territory of Poland. It had an important Jewish community, and some of its members became very famous in the Jewish world. Among other things, one of the first Hasids Rabbi Nachman of Horodenka, the grandfather of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav. Several Zionist youth movements operated in the city, which later, during the evil days, took an important part in attempts to save Jews and smuggle them out. Between the two world wars, 250 Jews immigrated to the Land of Israel, including those from these youth movements. Among them is this pioneer from the "Zionist Youth".

הורודנקה, עיר שנמצאת היום במערב אוקראינה אך עד למלחמה הייתה בשטחה של פולין. הייתה בה קהילה יהודית חשובה וכמה מבניה התפרסמו מאוד בעולם היהודי. בין השאר אחד מראשוני החסידות וגדוליה רבי נחמן מהורודנקא, סבו של רבי נחמן מברסלב. בעיר פעלו כמה תנועות נוער ציונית, שמאוחר יותר, בימי הרעה, לקחו חלק חשוב בנסיונות להצלת יהודים והברחתם. בין שתי מלחמות העולם עלו 250 מיהודיה לארץ ישראל ובהם מתנועות הנוער הללו. ביניהם אף החלוצה שלפנינו מ"הנוער הציוני".
