An envelope, military mail, that was sent during the War of Liberation, 11/16/48 to a soldier in Balad el Sheikh [later: Tel Hanan, Nesher], but the soldier was no longer there, and the letter continued to circulate with great inscriptions and stamps - it is very possible that this is the only envelope in the world that has survived from this address, Extremely rare!

ב־21 באפריל 1948 השתלטה ה"הגנה" על שכונותיה הערביות של חיפה, בעקבות כך עזבו חלק מתושבי בלד א-שיח' את הכפר. ב-24 באפריל, ערב ליל הסדר תש"ח, נדרשו תושבי בלד א-שיח' וחוואסה למסור את נשקם. מנהיגי הכפר בלד-א-שיח' מסרו 22 "רובים ישנים", וההגנה השיבה כי תתקיף את הכפר אם לא יועברו לה אמצעי לחימה נוספים. בבוקר ליל הסדר פתחה ההגנה בירי מרגמות 3 אינץ' ומקלעים, תגבורת בריטית שהגיעה לכפר יעצה לתושבי הכפר לעזוב את המקום, והם עשו זאת מיידית בליווי בריטי. בני מוריס מציין "אין ספק, נפילת העיר [חיפה] דכדכה אותם והכשירה אותם נפשית לנטישה."
