Two Ancient Manuscripts: a Prayer Book and a Book of the Prayers Said at the Mourner's House – the 19th Century
Twi ancient, miniature prayer books, nice script. Were most likely handwritten during the late 19th century.
A. Prayers that are said in the cemetery and the mourner's house. [Italy?]. Includes laws and customs. The manuscript is lacking its beginning, starting at the middle of the Piyyut "Shetar Alai Be'Edim Ve'Kinyan". Includes Sidrei Hashkava, Seder Hakafa, Tzidduk Ha'Din and the rare version of "Kadish Titkalei Charva"[!], which is said by the Sephardim on the eve of Tisha Be'Av (in the manuscript, it is said of this: "On the day of the burial, say this"). At the end of the Siddur, the version of Hashkava for a woman.
25 leaves. An additional, newer leaf was bound at the beginning. 10 cm.
B. Handwritten Siddur, the version of Edot Ha'Mizrach. The manuscript begins with the version of Hashkava for boys. Then there are the prayers of Mincha, Aravit and Shacharit and the prayers for Sabbath. The manuscript ends at the middle of Tefilat Amidah.
Circa 100 leaves. 11 cm.
Condition: Good. Typical wear and tear.
