Official postcard of ship #1 of the German Navy, "Caesar", sent from the ship, with the naval military postmark of ship #1 - the war on Manila, the Philippines, and the declaration of independence - the involvement of the Germans there, 17.7.98 - extremely rare !!! See the story inside
Background
In 1898 the Spanish rule in the Philippines came to an end in the United States - Spain war. Germany had a large colony of Germans there. They estimated that the American army would not have the power to conquer the Philippines and that Manila would not fall into their hands. Therefore, they thought they would have the power to take over Manila. They approached German warships for this purpose. But, in the end, the Americans managed to win the battle.
The postcard in front of us was sent from the ship No. 1 of the German Navy, which is of course called "Kaiser" after the German Emperor. It was sent from the ship on July 17, 1898 after the occupation of Manila and the Philippines by the United States. The writer describes that in the near future the ship will sail to Japan.
This is a historical document, and an excellent item of postal history - very rare!
Condition: medium - good. The condition of the postcard is very good, but two pieces of old transparent adhesive paper are pasted on it with a slight scratch near one of them. Great stamps.
