Group of 2 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! From 2003-2004 with 42 Coins Inside!. Each set included Philadelphia and Denver Mint examples of each coin. Included in each set was the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar and a Sacagawea Dollar. But for 204 number of coins per set rose from 20 to 22 pieces. This year two different designs were issued for the five cent piece, as part of the Westward Journey Nickel series to commemorate the Louisiana Purchase and the exploration of the western territories by explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The obverse of the 2004 nickels remained the same portrait of Jefferson, while the reverse carried a depiction of the keelboat used in the expedition and a peace medal given to local inhabitants in the territories. State Quarters featuring Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin. At this point in time, the two largest denominations ( $1 & 50c) were not issued for circulation, but only included in collector and numismatic products. Packaging for the 2003 Mint Set included outer envelopes depicting a bald eagle against an American flag. Separate red and blue envelopes were created for the Denver and Philadelphia Mint Cons. Within the envelopes coins from each mint were packaged in two separate packs, one containing the State Quarters and the other containing the remaining denominations. A certificate of authenticity signed by the US Mint Director was also placed within one of the envelopes. Packaging for 2004 set highlighted the new nickel designs, putting large sized images of the coins at the center of each envelope. The other coins were depicted in smaller scale to the side of the envelope.
