***Auction Highlight*** 1812/1 Small 8 O-102a R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar 50c Graded Chouce AU+ BY USCG. The small 8 in the date and the remnants of an under type 1 below the primary 2 identify the O-102 variety. A blurry die crack from the base of the second 1 to the stand of the overpunched 1 and the clash marks above the date identify the late die state O-102a. Superb vibrant luster enhances the pleasing surfaces of this near-Uncirculated specimen, with scattered, minor signs of wear and vibrant mint luster throughout. The design elements are well-detailed, showing some of the usual flatness on four of the obverse stars. The wild letter transferred die clashing above the date is striking. Bold overdate.
