Artist statement: London based artist Barry Laden MBE, FRSA (b.1965) has worked within the world of design and the arts for more than twenty years, exhibiting in his eponymous ‘Laden Showroom’ located in London’s Brick Lane. In 2017, his large ‘Chaos over Moscow’ canvas was projected digitally at the Saatchi Gallery (London) and in 2018 he exhibited at The Brick Lane Gallery (London). Granted the Freedom of the City of London in 2009 and made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, he was awarded the MBE medal in 2011 by Prince Charles and an Honorary Doctorate of Design by Southampton’s Solent University in 2014. Stylistically Laden’s works range from abstract impressionism, with a focus on crowd scenes and flags capturing moments of joy; to scenic views including his trademark pointillist crowds.
