Manuscript, Shivchei Ha'Ari [the History of Ha'Ari] - Italy the Late 18th Century
Manuscript of the book "Shivchei Ha'Ari" containing the history of the kabbalist rabbi Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi – Ha'Ari Ha'Kadosh.
There were many editions and handwritten copies of the book Shivchei Ha'Ari. There are many textual variations between them. The first edition titled "Shivchei Ha'Ari"is the Constantinople edition 1720 of the book "Sefer Ha'Kavanot U'Ma'aseh Nisim". Other adaptations of the book were titled "Toldot Ha'Ari". An informative review of the different manuscripts and textual variations of the book can be found in the preface by Meir Bnayahu of the book Toldot Ha'Ari [which is the title of the book in Italy].
Before us is an early Italian copying of the book with lingual variations and a different adaptation!
The writer of the book is unknown. There are different suggestions by different researchers. However, we do know that many of Ha'Ari's miracles were recalled by his leading disciple Rabbi Chaim Vital (see Mavoh Le'Shivchei Ha'Ari by Rabbi Y.M. Hillel, Jerusalem 1998).
