Lexicon fon Yiddishen Theater. By Zalman Zilbertzweig. Yiddish. The lexicon constitutes the most comprehensive book on the history of the Yiddish theater.
The author travelled around the world to work on his lexicon. The lexicon included six volumes, before us are three of them. The first volume was printed in New York (1931) and the second, in Warsaw (1934) before World War II. The fifth volume before us was printed in 1967 in Mexcio City and is dedicated to a description of artists who died in the Holocaust (such as Yitzchak Broiner, Alter Kazitzana), theaters in the ghetto and more.
The complete lexicon contains entries about more than 3000 people as well as entries about theater companies, organization of actors and the like.
The three volumes contain many photographs and illustrated title pages.
