DE LESSEPS FERDINAND: (1805-1894) French Diplomat and developer of the Suez Canal. A good A.L.S., `Ferd. De Lesseps´, two pages, 8vo, 27th October 1874, on his personal printed stationery of ''La Chénaie par Vatan - Indre'', in French. De Lesseps invites his correspondent to visit him and stay at his home, stating in part `Si vous aviez la liberté de prendre un petit congé, Madame de Lesseps et moi nous vous inviterions à venir nous voir à notre campagne du Berry où nous serons charmés de vous recevoir pendant tout le temps que vous pourrez nous donner´ (“If you had the freedom to take a little leave, Madame de Lesseps and I would invite you to come and see us in our Berry countryside home where we will be delighted to receive you for all the time you can give us”) De Lesseps further explains the way to reach their location coming from Paris by train or by car.
