MOREAU GUSTAVE: (1826-1898) French artist, an important figure in the Symbolist movement. A.L.S., Gustave Moreau, one page, 8vo, n.p., 28th January 1888, to Monsieur Robin ('Mon cher ami'), in French. Moreau states, in part, 'Je suis profondement touche et reconnaissant de le temoignage de gracieuse sympathie que, vous et Madame Robin, voulez lieu me donner aujourd'hui' (Translation: 'I am deeply touched and grateful for the testimony of gracious sympathy that you and Madame Robin gave me today') and in a postscript remarks 'J'espere bien avoir le grand plaisir de vous voir mercredi si le rhume affreux qui me tient en ce moment me laisse quelque repit' (Translation: 'I hope to have the great pleasure of seeing you on Wednesday if the dreadful cold that is gripping me at the moment gives me some respite').
