COWARD NOEL: (1899-1973) English actor, director and playwright, Academy Award winner. T.L.S., Noel, one page, 8vo, Les Avants sur Montreux, 12th July 1962, to Leonard Lyons. Coward thanks his correspondent 'for that unexpected windfall' and remarks 'As you predicted, the complications are considerable, but my lawyers are working on it. It was a sweet thought on the part of the Reader's Digest, and as I have told you so often before Leonard, it's the thought that counts'. Coward further writes 'Nothing sensational in the way of news - “Sail Away” is doing fine at the Savoy, and [Elaine] Stritch has made a great personal success. Harry (Kurnitz) is here tapping happily away at the book of “The Sleeping Prince” and I spend hours each day, dreaming at my piano. So I shall be back in the autumn - in other words, here we go again!'. Accompanied by the original envelope. VG
