THENAULT GEORGES: (1887-1948) French Lieutenant-Colonel, Commander of the Lafayette Escadrille, the famed branch of the French Air Force of World War I largely composed of American volunteer pilots. Dark fountain pen ink signature ('sincerely yours, G. Thenault') on a piece neatly clipped from the conclusion of a letter. Together with Reginald Sinclaire (1893-1989) American Fighter Pilot, a member of the Lafayette Escadrille. Blue ink signature, with rank and squadron beneath, on a piece. VG, 2 £200- £300
