Derech Emunah. First Edition Constantiople, 1522

Discussions  on topics of emunah, and commentareis  on Agaddos Chazal by Rabbi Avraham Bibago.

Chacham Rabbi Avraham Bibago was one of the great Spanish rabbis during the period of the Expulsion and thereafter. He served as Rosh Yeshivah in Saragossa in northeast Spain, and he was renowned as an exceptional orator whose fiery lectures drew many from his generation back to Torah and mitzvos. He debated religious polemics with Christian scholars, defending the Jewish faith time and again. Rabbi Avraham once appeared in a public debate with a Christian scholar before King John II of Aragon

rabbis and scholars during the era of the Spanish Expulsion and ensuing period were influenced by the writings and sefer of Rabbi Avraham Bibago and praised it. The Yashar of Candia commends this sefer in sefer Metzaref L’Chochmah (Ch. 6) and writes that it is the source of many opinions of the author of the Sefer Ha’akeidah. Rabbi Yitzchak Abarbanel was also greatly influenced by Rabbi Avraham Bibago’s writings and cites it in his sefer Rosh Emunah. Rabbi Shlomo Elkabetz, author of Lecha Dodi, likewise mentions him in his writings.

Constantiople, 1522. First edition. 102 leaves. Size: Condition: Colophon reads: “This sefer was completed for print on Cheshvan, 1522”.
