CHARLES W. LINDBERG IWO JIMA FLAG RAISER FDC
(1920 - 2007) U.S. Marine Corps corporal, member of the patrol that captured the top of Mount Suribachi where he helped raise the first U.S. flag on the island on February 23, 1945. FDC with a 50th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps cachet and stamp, dated Aug. 29, 1966. Lindberg signed the cover in black ink, 'Charles W. Lindberg, 1st Flag Raiser, Iwo Jima, Feb. 23, 1945, 10:30, A.M.'
