Report of the Shaw Commission that placed limitations on Jewish immigration to Eretz Israel. London, 1930. The text volume and maps volume

PALESTINE Report on Immigration Land Settlement and Development - by Sir John Hope Simpson, London, 1930. Volume of text and five map appendix.

In response to the 1929 Hebron riots, the British government sent the "Commission on the Disturbances in Palestine August 1929" - The Shaw Commission to investigate the "direct causes" of the 1929 events "and make recommendations on the steps required to prevent their reoccurrence". The commission determined the "main cause of the hostility and violence of 1929 was the disappointment of the Arabs that their national and political claims had not been realized and their fear for their economic future", and recommended limitations on Jewish immigration and land purchase. The recommendations in this report directly led to a reduction in Jewish immigration to Eretz Israel, and were adopted by the Passfield White Paper. Before us is the official report of the commission, and a volume containing five maps of Palestine - in the appendices the Jewish and Arab settlements are marked.

One of the large maps has a hole of about a 1 cm. in the center as a result of the fold mark. Reinforcements by gluing paper in several places on the backs of the two large maps. overall condition good.
