A ROMAN TERRACOTTA OIL LAMP - Second half of the 1st century BCE. 12.1 cm. The base is marked: FORTIS. Manufactured in Mutina (modern Modena). The factory was mentioned by Pliny the Elder in his Naturalis Historia. In very good condition (handle is missing). Including the base of another such lamp. Ex Judge Steve Adler collection, Jerusalem.
