He was attacked in Prague by British trained Czechoslovak paratroops on May 27, 1942. He died from wounds suffered in the attack on June 4. Bohemia and Moravia issued a stamp showing his Deathmask on the first anniversary of the attack (May 28, 1943). This is a significant Third Reich philatelic item
