These beautiful and colourful illustrations in this work on mosses found in Britain were drawn by Tripp, etched in copper and hand-coloured by Benjamin Fawcett, Driffield.
This work on British mosses, uses a simplified language, whilst still offering minute detail about the structure, habits, and appearances of the mosses.
Frances Elizabeth Tripp (1832-90) was an amateur bryologist who also wrote children's books.
