HIGH QUALITY CHINESE CARVED JADE STATUE OF GUANYIN
A high quality Chinese hand carved and patinated white Jade figure of Guanyin. The figure is adorned with etched detailed patterns. She is dressed in flowing robes and a headdress, and standing under a large lotus flower. Completed with a footed hand carved wooden stand. Circa: the first half of the 20th century. Guanyin is a character of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese mythology, a bodhisattva or a deity who appears mainly in a female form, saving people from all sorts of disasters; giver of children, obstetrician, patroness of the female half of the house.
