R. Ansdell Painting
- An original oil on board painting by the British artist Richard Ansdell R.A. (1815-1885), titled ‘The Grand Assembly’, unsigned. Depicting a large gathering of goats and sheep inspecting a cannon on the top of a cliff, with three girls seated on the left. Circa 1850. Framed with brass plaque to front inscribed " ‘The Grand Assembly’ Richard Ansdell R.A. (Royal Academy 1850)??. Board with information tag to rear from The Pulitzer Gallery (S. Kensington High Street, London. W.B.) with Catalogue no. 31 March, 1959 Exhibition. Gallery No. 949.
Condition: overall poor, damage to edges of board and loss to corners. Loss to paint on sections of the sky. Yellowing to varnish. Extensive damage to the frame.
