Glosses from Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lipshitz, son of the Tiferet Yisroel, and from his son, Rabbi Zecharia Lipshitz on Sefer Yad Malachi.

Sefer Yad Malachi with glosses written by Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lipshitz, author of Misgeret Hazahav, son of Rabbi Yisroel Lipshitz, author of Tiferet Yisroel, and glosses from his son, Rabbi Zecharya Lipshitz, author of Minchat Shmuel.

About 30 glosses in the hand of Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak and many others in the hand of his son, Rabbi Zecharya.

Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lipshitz (1812-1868) was the av”d Landesberg and Chief Rabbi of Mecklenburg. He was the son and disciple of the Tiferet Yisroel. Many of his novellae are printed under the title Misgeret Zahav at the end of the Mishnayot. In addition, within his father's novellea, his comments are marked with אב"י – so says Baruch Yitzchak. While still a youth, he received semichah from his father and received an offer to enter the rabbinate, but Rabbi Akiva Eiger strongly opposed the idea of an unmarried man serving in such a position. He later moved to Hamburg, where he was a darshan and taught many students (Refer to: Chachmei Ah"u, 122).
His son, Rabbi Zecharya Lipshitz,  who wrote many erudite glosses in this book, received semichah from his father and Rabbi Ezriel Hildesheimer. The Minchat Shmuel contains his elucidations and Yiddish translation of Tractate Peah (Berlin, 1871).

Yad Malachi, Berlin [1852], second edition. With new supplements: Hagahot Rabbi Yeshaya Pick Berlin and Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Halevi Bamberger av”d Wurzburg. Fine condition, old binding.
