The holy Gaon Rabbainu Chaim Sofer [1822-1886], author of Sefer Machaneh Chaim, one of the great Poskim of Hungarian Jewry and prominent and leading fighter for the separation of the communities following the Chasam Sofer's methodologies. He continued his Rav's holy methods to separate from the Neological communities.
He had his Bris Milah on the lap of Maran the Chasam Sofer, and when he was 11 years began learning in his Yeshiva. He also studied with his son the Kesav Sofer, with the Maharam Esh, and Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Low, author of Sha'arei Torah. After serving as Rav in many prominent communities he was appointed Rav in Munkatch. In 1879, he became the Rav of the orthodox community of Budapest and was the first to hold the position after the separation between the Hungarian Jewish communities. 

Simple blemished binding. Tears and taping to the first leaves. Stains. Without the title page of section II. Moth holes. fair-good condition.
