Sefer Chessed LeAvraham by the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Hamalach - Chernovich, 1851 - first edition - with an approbation by the author's grandson, the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin written in the last month of his life - wide margins - bound with Sefer Kedushat Levi, Lemberg 1873 edition.
The title was given by the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin, the grandson of the author the holy Rav Rabbi Avraham Hamalach. In the rare approbation by the Saba Kadisha, which was written less than a month before his passing, the Saba Kadisha recalls that he had "Kitvei Kodesh" on the Torah by his grandfather Rabbi Avraham Hamalach. However, during his imprisonment (1838-1840) they were lost. They (or a copy of them) were found by the publisher of the book, Rabbi Chaim Halevi of Berditchev: "...אחרי אשר נואשתי מהם כי נכחדו מני בעת משפחות גוים קראו עלי שטנה, בקשתים ולא מצאתים, עד שקם איש שלומי... מו"ה חיים הלוי מבארדטישוב ואזר כגבר חלציו לחפש אבני נזר אלה וימצאם אף הביאם לידי...".
After the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin's sudden passing, the publisher feared people will not believe he received his approbation; therefore, he asked for an additional one from his holy sons, Rabbi Sholom and Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura. In their approbation, they write: "...לאשר עברו איזה שבועות אחדים מנתינת ההסכמה עד התחלת ההדפסה וביני ביני נלקח ממנו מחמד עינינו, אבינו אור עולם... וירפו ידי הרבני... מה"ו חיים הלוי המביא לבית הדפוס כי אמר הן לא יאמינו לי, כי יאמרו לא נראה אליך הקדוש בהסכמתו, לזאת לאחזוקי גברא קאתינן ולאסהודי עליה כי הסכמתו אמת...".
Printed for the first time in this book are Mamarim by leading Chassidic rabbis such as Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl, Rabbi Shmuel of Kaminka, Rabbi Baruch of Mezhibuzh, Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz and more.
Printed at the end of the book: "ביאור עשר ספירות על דרך העבודה, מצדיק אחד תלמיד הצדיק הקדוש הגאון אב"ד דק"ק בארדיטשוב". Actually, this is a Mamar by Baal Hatanya, which was printed in Sefer Hatanya and was printed here with a different title by mistake (See: Chaim Lieberman, Ohel Rachel, III, pp. 467-476).
Rabbi Eliyahu Yehoshua Goldtzeler, the son-in-law of Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Desler, wrote about the depth of the innovations of Sefer Chessed LeAvraham: "ודכירנא בעת שהיה מו"ח [הרב דסלר] בביתי במאנסי, ולמד כדרכו, ובפעם הזאת היתה עיונו בהקדמה לספר חסד לאברהם מהרה"ק ר"א המלאך זצוק"ל, ופתאום שאג בקול של שמחה: 'חידוש גדול'! והיינו האיך שמגדיר שם העשר ספירות, ופירש לי החידוש בדבריו, ואחר כך הגיד שיחה בבית מדרש עליון, והזכיר פירוש זה דרבי אברהם המלאך הנ"ל, וביאר דבריו בארוכה בטוב טעם. והכריז בהתפעלות: 'אילו לא באתי לאמריקא אלא בשביל זה, היה כדאי' (Kodhsei Yehoshua, V).
