Rabbi Eliyahu Lumbroso (lived approx. 200 years ago) - one of the rabbis of Tunis, a member of a family who came to Tunis from Venice. This family was one of the pillars of the Portuguese community of Tunis and many of its sons were famed intellectuals, businessmen and diplomats. Rabbi Eliyahu's expertise was the copying and editing of manuscripts for printing. In the book Da'at Kedoshim (Livorno, 1809), the Shadar Rabbi Yaakov David Yekutiel Hacohen thanks him for editing the book, desribing him as follows: "צורבא מרבנן החכם השלם והכולל בישראל להלל כמוה"ר אליהו לומברוזו נר"י מעיר ואם בישראל תונס". Today, some of the manuscripts copied by Rabbi Eliyahu Lumbroso are kept by libraries and archives around the world. In addition, his signatures appear on several documents of the Portuguese community of Tunis.
