Kabbalistic Book: Avodat Hakodesh. Slavuta, 1827

Sefer Avodat Hakodesh, matters of Avodas Hashem and Kabbala. Rabbi Meir ben Gabai. The press of Rabbi Shmuel Avraham ben Rabbi Moshe Shapiro in Slavuta, 1827. 


Important Kabbalistic book with approbations by leading rabbis of Lithuania, Litvishe Misnagdim, praising the publisher "the famed Chassid Rav ... Moshe Shapiro Av Beis Din of Slavuta" including Rabbi Chaim Rappaport Av Beis Din of Ostrohe, Rabbi Avraham Abli Rosh Av Beis Din of Vilna and Rabbi Shlomo Zalman of Ir Chadash, a family member of HaGra of Vilna. 


The first edition was printed in Krakow in 1577. This copy is of the edition printed by Rabbi  Shmuel Avraham ben Rabbi Moshe Shapiro in Slavuta, in 1827. 


Copy with pedigreed notations by Rabbi Chaim Dober, the son of the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Reuven Golavsky, the son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Simcha Zelig Reiger of Brisk. Stamps of the Chabad Lubavitch synagogue 'Chassidic Beis Midrash Lubavitch ... Kovno'. Later ownership notations by a member of the family of the Radzin Admorim. 


72, 20 leaves. 35 cm. Bluish paper. Title page with red lettering. Old professional restoration to the title page and the first leaf. Moth perforations. Old water stains and aging stains. Partly original binding, old and blemished. Good condition.
