"ואחתום בשלום וברכה וכבוד רב. משולם ראטה"; letter by the Gaon Rabbi Meshulam Roth to Rabbi Avraham Rubenstein about Sifrei Shas and Shulchan Aruch for sale in Givas Shmuel. Givas Shmuel, [1948].

[1] leaf, handwritten and signed by Rabbi Meshulam Roth. On the lower part of the leaf, notations recording the sale of books and booklets in a different script.

The Chassid Gaon Rabbi Meshulam Roth [1875-1963] one of the greatest rabbis of his generation. Authored the 'Kol Mevaser' Shut and was considered a great religious authority, this despite his modesty and simplicity. A Chassid of the Holy Rav of Chortkov and a disciple of the Geonim of Galicia. Was Rav of several towns including Schotz and Chernowitz. After surviving the Holocaust, he immigrated in 1944 to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Jerusalem. Despite his age, he was asked to serve as a member of the Chief Rabbinate and the Chief Rabbi the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Herzog asked him to be his personal advisor.

The Chassid Gaon Rabbi Meshulam Roth was known for his genius and rare knowledge, so much so that the Gaon Rav of Tshebin used to call him "Gedol Hador"!
