Kitzur Shelah, Amsterdam, 1723. The Personal Signed Copy of Maran Rabbi Yehuda Assad

Kitzur Shnei Luchos habris, Amsterdam 1723. The personal copy of the great Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Assad of Serdeheli and his sons, with his handwritten signature and signs of use, including tear stains in the section of Keri'as Shema Sh'al Hamitah and Viduy. 


Kitzur Shnei Luchos Habris with Mahadura Batra, compiled by the Chassid Rabbi Michl Epstein from Sefer Shelah Hagadol, with Seder Hatfilah for all year round. Amsterdam, 1723. 


On the title page, the handwritten signature of the great Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Assad. On the back flyleaf, the signatures of two of his sons and the signature of his son-in-law. The sons confirm that this copy had belonged to their great father. The script is apparently that of the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Assad and the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Moshe Assad. In addition, the signature of his son-in-law the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Bichler. 


Many additional ownership notations including of Yissachar Shfefen, Moshe David Weiss, Yeshaya Munk.   


The holy Gaon Rabbi Yehuda Assad [1796-1866] one of the greatest rabbis of Hungary and a leading Posek in the generation after the Chasam Sofer, who called him 'a great scholar, Ish Tzaddik Tamim'. The Rav of Serdehil and Rosh Yeshiva of hundreds of students. His disciples were important rabbis of Hungary. Maran the Divrei Chaim called him 'Mofes Hador'.

134 leaves. A perforation to the title page. Two leaves of the Ne'ilah prayer were reversed in the printing process. Blemishes, mainly wear to the last leaves and the leaves of th eViduy and Keri'as Shema Sh'al Hamitah, apparently due to use. Some leaves at the end are restored with old paper. Cutting during the printing process damaged some of the headings. Renewed semi-leather binding. Many ownership notations. Good condition.
