Seder night plate. Germany, 1940s.
Green ceramic, inscriptions at top of plate: "Joint- Religious office" and "From Slavery to Freedom". On margins, drawings of slaves and an oppressor with a whip, and illustrations of structures in the Holy Land. At center of plate, simanim of Seder plate (shankbone, egg, bitter herbs, charoset, karpas, chazeret). At bottom of plate: "This year in Jerusalem".
Verso manufacturer's stamp: "Made by She'erit HaPleita of German exile - Employment Board".
Diameter: 25 cm. Minor damage, glued break on edge of plate.
