The first edition was printed a little after the author passed away, with the introduction from his son and replacer the Admo"r Rabbi Baruch the 'Imrei Baruch' of Viznitz.

Hrh"k Admo"r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hager (1830-1885) was the son of the Admo"r Rabbi Chaim of Kosov the author of 'Toraht Chaim'. Was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. At the age of 24 he moved to Viznitz where he was the first Admo"r of Viznitz .
