K’sav Sofer. R. Avrohom Shmuel Binyamin Sofer/Pressburg 1854.
Marriage certificate from the city of Pressburg dated September 1854, recording the marriage of Leopold Stern to Amalie Kolinsky of Pest. Signed in German and sealed by the Ksav Sofer.
The signature reads “S.W. Schreiber Oberrabiner”. The wax seal reads “Samu Wolf Schreiber Oberrabiner in Pressburg” set around a depiction of the Luchos.
R. Avrohom Shmuel Binyamin Sofer (1815-1872), was the eldest son of the Chasam Sofer. He was a disciple of his father and of R. Mordechai Ephraim Fischel Sofer. Following the passing of the Chasam Sofer in 1839, he was appointed as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of Pressburg. Under his leadership the Kehilla of Pressburg in general, and the Yeshiva continued to be great centers of Torah. Many of the next generation of rabbinical leaders were amongst his students, and his novella (published posthumously) were received with great acclaim.
