Wallet for documents, made in the Ferramonti di Tarsia DP camp. Italy, [ca. 1943-1945].
Wallet for documents, made of cardboard and fabric, produced by the group "Kvuzat Amal" in the Ferramonti di Tarsia DP camp. A paper label is glued into the inside bearing a Star of David and the inscription: "Made by Kvuzat 'Amal', Book Binding Section, Ferramonti (Italy), Former Concentration Camp, Founded by Shraga Kohn & Shlomo Weiss".

The Ferramonti di Tarsia DP Camp in Italy was the largest of the concentration camps which were established following the orders of Benito Mussolini in the summer of 1940. Most of its inmates were Jewish. In September 1943, a few days before Italy's surrender to the Allied Forces, the Ferramonti detainees were released. Many remained in the camp and it served as a camp for displaced persons until its closure in December 1945.
