Early Letter by the Admor Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, Author of Berach Moshe of Satmar

Early letter handwritten and signed by the Admor Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of Berach Moshe of Satmar. Dated: 7 Tishrei 1968 [before he was appointed Admor].

Lengthy letter [17 lines] of Rosh HaShanah greetings to his friend R' Naftali Halpert. Within the letter, he writes about shmurah matzahs that he sent his friend and his intention to be in Sighet: "I'm thinking of possibly travelling to be in Sighet on 6 Shevat, the yahrzeit of the holy Admor, ztz"l.

The Admor Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Satmar [1914-2016]: born in Sighet, Rumania to his father, author of Atzei Chaim of Sighet, great-grandson on his mother's side of R' Chaim of Sanz and descendant of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi. Disciple of his great uncle, the Admor of Satmar. Served in Hungary as Av Beit Din of Senta and Av Beit Din of Sighet. During the Holocaust, he was sent to Auschwitz with his whole family. His wife and three children were murdered there. After the Holocaust, he immigrated to the United States, and after the Admor of Satmar's passing (with no living children), he was appointed his uncle's heir and successor, and crowned revered rabbi of the Satmar chassidim beginning in 1979 until his passing. He also served as head of the Eidah HaChareidit in the Land of Israel.
