Especially Impressive Velour Curtain for the Holy Ark. Vienna, Early 1940s

Spectacularly beautiful curtain for the Holy Ark in memory of R' Shimshon Appel, one of the heads of the synagogues and study halls in Vienna. Passed away in Av 1841.

Description: Green and turquoise velour curtain, massive embroidery work with gold and silver threads. Decorations in the shapes of flowers and plants with stars of David scattered like stars, additional layer of velvet in front of the top part of the curtain. 190x155 cm.

Moderate-fine condition: Tears in the turquoise velour in the center of the curtain, wear to the tassels on the bottom of the curtain and unraveling of the stitching attaching them to the curtain.
