Background: At the beginning of the 20th century, Poland was divided between Germany, Russia and the Austro-Hungrian empire. The Polish people, youth and adults alike, created many movements and organizations with the goal of preserving the nation, and the struggle for independence. One of these organizations was the Zarzewie youth group. During WWII, a number of adult scouts conducted sabotage missions against the Nazis; the girl scouts created support units working as nurses. At the same time, the youth scouts were involved with "minor sabotage events," which included distribution of flyers or drawing graffiti on walls. During Operation Tempest, the scouts were actively involved in battles, especially during the Warsaw uprising. This booklet was from the scout organization active in the Middle East during WWII.
