“NOT TO PAY HEED TO THE SCOFFERS" - Letter from Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam of Frysztak, Son-in-law of Admor Rabbi Yechezkel of Shinowa
Letter written by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam, Av Beis Din of Dukla and Frysztak.
The letter, postmarked 1925, is testimonial to his renowned gemilus chassadim. In it he requests that the recipient assist monetarily with the salaries of the teachers hired for the upcoming year. He also writes, " …not to pay heed to the scoffers, because they themselves know that not a single penny was stolen. But in their wickedness, they want to abolish all of the mitzvos, and they are unburdening the yoke of the Heavenly Kingdom"
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam (1870 - 1926) was the son of Rabbi Aryeh Leibush, Av Beis Din of Dukla, and grandson of Rabbi David of Kashnow, son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. He married the daughter of Rabbi Yechezkel of Shinowa and was the father of the Admor Rabbi Chana Halberstam of Kolshitz. Renowned for his humble nature, he refused the position of Admor and served instead as rabbi of Dukla and Frysztak.
