Long Letter of Novellae from Rabbi Wolf Bonda of Serdaheli, Disciple of the Chassam Sofer, 1857
A long letter dated 1857 filled with Torah thoughts from Rabbi Wolfe Bonda of Serdaheli to Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ulman, Av Beis Din of Makova.
At the end of the letter Rabbi Wolf writes: " I will thank and bless my master from the bottom of my heart, for establishing the glory of Torah with his pure treatise, because the glory and honor had been brought down to the earth with no one to seek or request it, and we would give anything for you to be accepted as rabbi of Nickelsburg. Then the crown will be returned to its former beauty…"
Rabbi Wolfe Bonda was the nephew of the illustrious Machatzis Hashekel and a close disciple of the Chassam Sofer and Maharam Banet. He received smicha from the Chassam Sofer at the young age of twenty-five and served as Rosh Av Beis Din of Serdaheli until his death.
