Long and Touching Letter to the Philadelphia Community with New Years Greetings from the Chafetz Chaim

"... A year of life and peace, blessing and success in all their affairs ..." a touching letter from the author of the Mishnah Berurah and the Chafetz Chaim, Rabbi Yisrael Meir HaKohen of Radin. Radin, 1926.

Specifications: [1] leaf official paper in Hebrew and Polish. 27x21 cm. Written in scribal handwriting, with the handwritten signature of the Chafetz Chaim and his stamp.

Background: The letter was sent to the Philadelphia community, and begins with a blessing for the new year. In the letter the Chafetz Chaim discusses the difficult state of the yeshiva in Radin, due to the country's financial condition, as well as the decrease in donations from abroad, leading the yeshiva's very existence being in danger. He writes: "To support the last remnants of the Holy Torah, of which only few remain from the many, during these dark times, to prevent them from collapse." At the end of the letter the Chafetz Chaim repeats his blessing for a good year: "A year of life and peace, blessing and success in all their affairs and may their eyes behold the salvation of the Jewish people and the elevation of the Torah."

Condition: Fine. Fold marks. Tiny hole in the center.
