Netivot HaMishpat. Zolkiew, 1809-1816. Two Sections. First Edition. Rare
Novellae and elucidations on Choshen Mishpat by [Rabbi Yaakov Lorberbaum of Lissa], author of Chavat Daat, Mekor Baruch and more. Zolkiew, [1809]-1816. First edition. Rare work.
Specifications: [Section one] Zolkiew, 1809: [1] 11, [3] 3, [1], 15-86; 46 leaves, paper.
Section two, Zolkiew, 1816: [1], 106 leaves, paper about 36 cm.
Background: The work consists of two sections, the first section features novellae titled "Mishpat HaKohanim," and the second section features novellae titled "Mishpat HaUrim." In every location that the author posited his own halachic ruling a separate subsection was printed. The first section was printed with the text of the Shulchan Aruch. The title page of the first section does not clearly delineate the author's name. It was printed in 1809. In 1816, the author printed the second section together with another edition of the first section. These are the first editions of both sections.
Unique Features: One of the most prominent works on the Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat. It novellae and halachic decisions are an enlightening guide for adjudicators involved in monetary issues. The author often discusses the words of the "Ketzot HaChoshen" and sometimes disagrees with them. The author of the Ketzot HaChoshen responded to this critique in his Meshovev Netivot.
Condition: Moderate condition. The first title page is blemished and reinforced with tape, aging stains, a few leaves have been repaired with added paper to their corners.
