Ledger which belonged to a German Jew during the early years of WWII. [Berlin], 1939-1941. German.
The ledger contains (handwritten) financial data from 1939-1941. Most pages are titled with the year and the name of the bank in which the owner of the ledger had an account (Dresdner Bank). The name and and address of the owner are handwritten on the inner side of the front cover - "Arthur Jsrael Jachmann, Berlin…", [apparently, the name Jsrael was added to his name conforming with the law passed in Nazi Germary obligating Jews to add the Jewish names of Yisrael or Sarah to their name].
The name Arthur Jachmann is listed in the Yad VaShem Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names (according to the entry he was born in 1874 or 1876).
Approximately 40 written pages + blank pages, 16 cm. A printed paper label is pasted on the front binding with the handwritten name of the owner of the ledger and the year 1939. Overall good condition. Several stains and tears. Damage to binding.
