Collection of items which belonged to Karl Schlesinger (1898-1917), a Viennese Jew who fought in the Austro-Hungarian Army during WWI and fell during his army service. Vienna, [1917] (one item is from 1898). German.
1. Geburts-Zeugnis, birth certificate issued by the Vienna Jewish community (printed and filled in by hand). Signed by hand with the official stamp of the registry of the Vienna Jewish community ("Matrikelamt Der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde in Wien").
2. Postcard with a handwritten letter sent to Schlesinger from Vienna. September 1917.
3. Official military postcard (Feldpostkorrespondenzkarte) notifying Schlesinger's sister of her brother's death. Vienna, October 1917.
The postcard contains a printed form, with details filled in by hand: Schlesinger's name and rank, year of birth, date of death and other details. The postcard is stamped by the military rabbinate (Israelitische Militarseelsorge).
4. Totenschein, Schlesinger's death certificate (printed and filled in by hand).
