Diverse Collection of Paper Items – Zionism and Palestine – Late 19th Century Until the 1960s
Approximately 160 broadsides, postcards, booklets, brochures, cards, pocket guidebooks and other paper items (mostly printed matter), pertaining to Zionism and Palestine. Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Berlin, Warsaw and other places (most items are from Palestine), late 19th century until the 1960s. Hebrew, English, German and other languages.
Among the items:
* Approximately 70 broadsides, most from the time of the British Mandate, by various organizations and entities: "Va'ad Poalot Jaffa"; "HaPoel HaTza'ir; the Chief Rabbinate; "Management of the Tel Aviv Great Synagogue"; "National Religious Union"; "National Front"; supplements to the Davar and Chadashot newspapers; and more.
* 11 postcards, including a postcard by the Poel Hatzair promoting Shekel payment for 1937, with photomontage by the photographer Moshe Vorobeichic (Raviv); six postcards with poems and musical notes from the series "Songs of the homeland, compiled by Menashe Rabinowitz"; etc.
* Two printed receipts for payment of the Shekel for 1921, by the Zionist Union in Poland. Printed by C. Goldberg, Warsaw. Designed by Peretz Willenberg (teacher and designer [1874-1947]).
* Palestine government (Eretz Yisrael), additional laws legislated according to Clause 20 of the Railroad Order (authorized by the High Commissioner). Compilation of regulations on the subject of transport, printed in 1923 on behalf of the High Commissioner Herbert Samuel.
* Bulei HaGolah ("Stamps of the Diaspora") booklet, published by the JNF. Consists of 20 postage stamps with illustrations of Jews and Jewish sites, by Efraim Moshe Lilien, Hermann Struck, Joseph Budko and others. Presumably, the booklet was distributed to students in Palestine during WWII. On its back are explanations for children and the inscription "All revenue from the sale of these stamps is dedicated to redeeming land for the children of Jewish survivors". The name of the owner of the notebook and his school were added in pencil.
* Four printed certificates, filled in by hand and stamped, issued for the Jewish woman Dora Siew after the Holocaust: A membership notebook of the Jewish Students' Union in Munich; membership card of the Confederation of General Zionists in Germany; Authorization by the Jewish Agency, Immigrant office; Identity card of the SWRJ (Jewish Refugees Welfare Society).
* Certificate of participation in the ceremony of bringing Jabotinsky's remains to Israel, bearing the signatures of Menachem Begin, Aharon Proops and Yosef Klarman, issued in 1964.
* More items.
Size and condition vary. Overall fair-good condition.
